Community Virtual Power Plant

In Graiguenamagh we will visit Ireland’s first Community Virtual Power Plant (cVPP) a decentralised, community-driven approach that connects and coordinates locally owned energy resources (solar panels and batteries) into a single digital management platform supplying local needs and acting as a single supplier to the grid.

Car Pooling

We encourage our members to share car transport where possible. We are happy for you to bring a colleague. Simply share the registration form on this page so we will have them included on the tour member list. As we get closer to the day, we will reach out to gauge interest in our car pooling initiative.

  3. Inch Sawmills, Sion Rd, Purcellsinch, Kilkenny R95 AVF7

Biomethane Powered Energy & District Heating

We will visit the Ballytobin village community near Callan. Using local organic waste, their biogas facility produces and supplies methane gas to operate a gas engine generator supplying power to their shared micro-grid and surplus power to the national grid.

Biogas also powers the district heating system to heat homes and workshops.
