Industrial process heat emits almost one fifth of all greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Equivalent to the total greenhouse gas emissions of the USA and India combined! It’s a particularly difficult emissions source to tackle due to the very high temperatures required which are normally provided by burning fossil fuels.
-
In this Green Tech Focus episode, we interview founder and CEO Paul Keane from Re-Therm about their incredibly compact "plug and play" modular solution that's designed to replace fossil fuels currently used to produce industrial process heat.
Paul talks about how their solution is built inside a standard container. This self contained system heats its thermal mass to over 1200 degrees Celsius using off peak electricity and otherwise curtailed renewable generating capacity. It is designed to easily connect to a standard process heat manifold and integrate with existing heat management controls with minimal adaptation.
Paul adds that each storage unit can take up as little as a car parking space and can be daisy chained to increase their storage capacity. Each adding 5MWh to the total storage capacity.

Rethinking Sustainability
The sustainability bubble has deflated, as recent political and regulatory shifts in Brussels, London, and Washington slowed momentum and diluted key regulatory frameworks. Yet this pause offers an opportunity for businesses to reset their approach and focus on long-term, commercially viable models.
We have invited leading sustainability consultants, Mike Townsend and John Barcroft, to join with Michael O’Hara and Gerard Clutterbuck, Techies Go Green, to give their insights on the future of sustainability from a business and economic perspective.
