TAKE THE TECHIES GO GREEN
SMARTER
ENERGY
CHALLENGE
September 7 - November 30
CUT COSTS, CUT CARBON EMISSIONS, FUTURE PROOF YOUR BUSINESS
Join the Smarter Energy Challenge, a structured 6-step programme that enables you to create an energy transition plan to cut energy consumption and find the right smart managed clean energy solutions for your needs.
This is a non-technical, business-oriented programme that equips decision-makers with the knowledge and tools to build a structured energy transition plan.
We enable participants to:
Understand their energy use across their buildings and operations.
Identify which smart managed energy solutions are right for their business.
Create a smart energy transition plan tailored to their needs.
What does “Smarter Energy” mean?
Businesses need to rethink their energy business model
Transitioning from a centralised, fossil-fuel-heavy model to a flexible, sustainable system is now necessary to protect a company's bottom line and future-proof operations. We will introduce participants to the benefits of transitioning to smart managed buildings, solar, battery storage, EV charging, and flexible supplier tariff offers to help cut costs and energy consumption. Energy becomes something you actively manage, not just something you passively consume.
The programme will introduce participants to a range of efficiency measures and clean tech solutions and explain how they can be integrated into a single smart managed system.
-
Measure and reduce wasted energy before adding new technology. Building Management System options to monitor energy use, optimise and report.
-
Electrify heat with better intelligent controls to lower costs and carbon emissions. Featuring heat pumps, heat storage, along with community district heating.
-
Move from consumer to prosumer. Use local generation, store surplus and avoid peak import, and export surplus as a revenue source.
-
Guidance on using an EMS digital platform to monitor, control, and optimise energy use across connected assets including solar, batteries, HVAC, and EV chargers in real time. Using data, automation, and analytics to intelligently balance energy supply and demand, reduce costs, avoid peaks, improve efficiency, and maximise the use of clean renewable energy.
-
Lower transport emissions and manage charging schedules intelligently to cut costs, integrate home charging billing for fleet vehicles.
-
Build a community of adjoining businesses to aggregate solar and battery assets to reduce costs, build resilience, and support the grid. Understand how Community Virtual Power Plants can enhance community energy projects.
Follow our 6-step energy transition programme
Over the course of 12 weeks, we invite participants to complete the 6 steps that will enable them to understand their energy use build a smart energy transition plan.
Define your energy goals and priorities
Begin by completing our Energy Transition Readiness Questionnaire using our support guide and advice sessions.
Evaluate smart energy management tools
Learn how EMS and BMS tools operate and integrate with clean technologies to improve efficiency and lower bills.
Electrify intelligently
Strategically replace fossil fuel systems with the right mix of heat pumps, EV charging, solar, and storage that’s optimised for cost, performance, and flexibility.
Understand your energy use
Build a snapshot of consumption and usage patterns across buildings and operations.
Identify energy efficiency opportunities
Find no-cost and low-cost actions that will lower consumption and bills.
Build a Practical Energy Action Plan
This is the end goal of the challenge. Create a smart energy efficiency transition plan. Set abudget. Select smart clean energy options. Select grants, and green finance offers.
Prof Fabiano Pallonetto
Professor in Management Information Systems
Mike Berners-Lee keynote speaker at the Smarter Energy Challenge full-day conference.
As a pioneering researcher and author of There Is No Planet B and How Bad Are Bananas?, Mike brings a rare ability to connect global climate science with the practical decisions businesses must make today. This is an unmissable opportunity to hear from one of the world’s most influential thinkers shaping how we understand and respond to the climate emergency and the energy transition under way.
Prof Sarah McCormack
