The Cycle-Friendly Employer Award is an EU-wide programme established in 2017 by the European Cyclists’ Federation to encourage more people to cycle to work across the EU. Cycle Friendly Employer Ireland, formerly Cycling Solutions Ireland, are the sole cycle-friendly employer accreditor in Ireland, operating under the banner of the European Cyclist’s Federation.

What is the Cycle-Friendly Employer (CFE) network?

CFE is the EU-standard for cycle-friendliness in the workplace (i.e. adequate bike parking facilities, mechanic services, employee development and staff wellness/CSR programmes etc.).
CFE is implemented in 20 member states across Europe, with over 1000 employers achieving certification, and more than 1 million employees enjoying the benefits of certification.
CFE is a recommended action in Ireland's National Sustainable Mobility Policy for 2022-25 for employers, and achieving certification demonstrates an employer's commitment to decarbonisation and active travel initiatives, as well as the level of commitment to the health and wellbeing of employees.
The Central Bank of Ireland, Workday, Pfizer, The Department of Enterprise and The Department of Transport are just some of the employers already certified as Cycle Friendly Employers in Ireland, demonstrating their commitment to being a great place to work.
